Business council reports 2,300 school partnerships to Loudoun County School Board

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has more than 2,300 active partnership connections with businesses across the division, the chair of the School Business Partnership Executive Council told the Loudoun County School Board on Aug. 11 in an informational update. Sean Mitchell, a presenter, said he owns a mechanical company and will serve as this year’s council chair after a year as vice chair. He described the council as a bridge between the school division and the business community, with members serving as mentors, advisers on curriculum and career pathways, and participants in committees and roundtables. Loudoun County School Board adopts September awareness proclamations with consent agenda

The Loudoun County School Board took up its consent agenda at the August 11 meeting after reading two proclamations from the Department of Student Services, one designating September 2026 as Attendance Awareness Month and one designating September 2026 as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Lauren Shernoff (Board member, Leesburg District) moved to approve the consent agenda and Ross Svenson (Board member, Broad Run District; chair of the Legislative and Policy Committee) seconded. Loudoun County School Board members read health benefit disclosures to open meeting

The Loudoun County School Board opened its Aug. 11, 2026 meeting with a series of conflict-of-interest disclosures, as members stated on the record that they are eligible to receive health insurance and related benefits through Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS).
